Distribution
In the Western Ghat region of South India in Karnataka (Jog Falls, Mavingundi, Kudremukh-Malleshwaram, Sakleshpur, Kempholay, Kirundadu, Madenadu, Mercara, and Muthodi), above the coastal lowlands.
Comment
Most similar to Philautus travancoricus, with which it was previously confused, according to the original publication. Vasudevan, Chaitra, and Aggarwal, 2007, Curr. Sci., Bangalore, 92: 281-282, criticised aspects of the original desciptioni and on the basis of the proximity of type localities implied that this may be found to be a junior synonym of Philautus tinniens. Biju and Bossuyt, 2009, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 155: 374-444 [422-425], provided an account, distribution map, and discussed relationships.
