Philautus gryllus Smith, 1924, Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1924: 225, 231. Holotype: M. Smith 4962, by original designation; now BMNH 1947.2.5.95 (formerly 1924.1.31.5) according to Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 44. Type locality: "Langbian Peaks, alt. 2000 m., Langbian Plateau, S. Annam", Vietnam.

Distribution

Southern Annam (Lam Dong, Dac Lac, Gia Lai, and Kon Tum provinces) and Tonkin region (Lao Cai, Cao Bang, Vinh Phu, and Bac Thai provinces), Vietnam; Sepian, Boloven Highlands, Champasak Province, Laos.
