Comment

Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 26, suggested that this species may be a synonym of Philautus beddomii, which they considered to be senior of Ixalus chalazodes. Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 151-152, 217, provided a brief account. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 75-76, provided relevant literature and range. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 520. Biju and Bossuyt, 2009, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 155: 374-444 [400-402], recognized the species as distinct from Raorchestes beddomii (as Philautus), provided an account, distribution map, and discussed relationships.
