Known in the Western Ghats from Mananthavady, Sulthanbathery, Kalpetta, and Ponmudi in Kerala, India.
Biju and Bossuyt, 2009, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 155: 374-444 [395], provided an account, distribution map, and discussed relationships, and noted its previous confusion with Raorchestes variabilis and Raorchestes signatus (both as Philautus).
