Ixalus stictomerus Günther, 1876 "1875", Proc. Zool. Soc. London, 1875: 575. Holotype: BMNH 1947.2.8.54 (formerly 1874.4.29.51) according to Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 27. Type locality: "Ceylon" (= Sri Lanka).

Low elevations in wet forests, 60-515 m elevation, southwestern Sri Lanka.

Placed in the synonymy of Philautus microtympanum by Wolf, 1936, Bull. Raffles Mus., 12: 174; this rejected by Dutta and Manamendra-Arachchi, 1996, Amph. Fauna Sri Lanka: 163-65, who provided an account. Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 228-230, provided an account. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 86-87, provided systematic notes, access to literature, and range.
