Philautus simba Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., Suppl., 12: 253. Holotype: WHT 3464, by original designation. Type locality: "Morningside Forest Reserve (near Rakwana), alt. 1060 m (06° 24′ N, 80° 38′ E)", Sri Lanka.

Known only from the type locality (Morningside Forest Reserve, southern Sri Lanka), 1080 m elevation.
