Given as "Pie del Volcán Sumaco (= Base of Sumaco volcano), San Jose del Moti, region oriental del Ecuador" and "San José de Moti" by González-Fernández, García-Díez, and San Segundo, 2009, Spixiana, München, 32: 268.

Distribution
Eastern slopes of the Ecuadorian Andes, from Volcán Reventador to the south, to Cordillera de Cuticú (Napo Province, eastern Ecuador) 500-3900 m elevation.
