Chep Lap Kok, Lamma, Lantau, and Po Toi islands, Hong Kong, China, 0-650 m elevation. Also reported in Guangxi, China (see comment).

Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 258-259, provided a brief account, figure, and map. See discussion by Bossuyt and Dubois, 2001, Zeylanica, 6: 52, for assignment to Chirixalus. Karsen, Lau, and Bogadek, 1986, Hong Kong Amph. Rept.: 32, provided a brief account. Thought to possibly be a member of Kurixalus according to Wilkinson, Win, Thin, Lwin, Shein, and Tun, 2003, Proc. California Acad. Sci., Ser. 4, 54: 17-23. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Chirixalus romeri) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 516. Mo, Zhou, Xie, and Chen, 2007, Herpetol. Sinica, 11: 15-18, reported the species in Guangxi, China, far from the Hong Kong population.
