Holotype: ICN 52.993, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia, Departamento de Santander, vertiente occidental de la Cordillera Oriental, Municipio de El Encino, Santuario de Flora y Fauna Guanentá-Alto Río Fonce, vereda Río Nego, quebrada Aguas Claras, 6° 14′ latitud N, 72° 56′ longitud W, 2525 msnm".

Known only from the type locality (Municipio de El Encino, Santuario de Flora y Fauna Guanentá-Alto Río Fonce) on the western slope of the Cordillera Oriental of Santander Department, northeastern Colombia, 2525 m elevation.
