See illustration, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Buergeria oxycephalus) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 516. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 660-664, provided an account and spot map. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 423, provided a brief account including photographs of specimens and habitat. Shi, 2011, Amph. Rept. Fauna Hainan: 72-75, provided an account.
