Rana latastei Boulenger, 1879, Bull. Soc. Zool. France, 4: 180. Syntypes: "plus de vingt" (= more than 20) specimens in IRSNB and MNHNP; Lang, 1990, Doc. Trav., Inst. R. Sci. Nat. Belg., 59: 12, noted MNHNP 5750, IRSNB 1005, and FMNH 215471-72 as syntypes; MNHNP 5750 considered lectotype by reason of being considered holotype by Guibé, 1950 "1948", Cat. Types Amph. Mus. Natl. Hist. Nat.: 37. Type locality: "adressés de Milan", Italy.

Distribution

Plains of northern Italy and adjacent extreme southern Switzerland; Istrian region of western Slovenia and adjacent western Croatia, below 500 m elevation.
