Rana iberica Boulenger, 1879, Bull. Soc. Zool. France, 4: 177. Syntypes: 4 specimens (IRSNB 1.004 according to Lang, 1990, Doc. Trav., Inst. R. Sci. Nat. Belg., 59: 12, and possibly MNHNP [by implication of being sent to Lataste, although his collection seems to have been disbursed to several other collections, including BMNH]). Type locality: "Coïmbre" (= Coimbra), Portugal (Mus. Bruxelles), "Espagne" [Spain] (Lataste coll.) and "Pontevedra", Spain (deposition unknown); restricted to "Coimbra, Portugal" by Mertens and Müller, 1928, Abh. Senckenb. Naturforsch. Ges., 41: 20.

Records for this species from the Pyrenees are based on misidentifications according to Boulenger, 1898, Tailless Batr. Eur., 2: 325; and Dubois, 1982, Alytes, 1: 56-70.
