Comment

In the Rana chaochiaoensis group according to the original publication, most closely related to Rana omeimontis, Rana chaochiaoensis, and Rana zhenhaiensis. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 981-985, provided an account for China and included it in their Rana longicrus group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 272, provided a brief account including photographs of specimens and habitat. Similar to Rana chaochiaoensis and in the Rana chensinensis group according to the original publication. Yang, Lu, and Li, 2010, Asian Herpetol. Res., Ser. 2, 1: 97-102, reported on molecular evidence that supports the recognition of Rana maoershanensis. Yan, Jiang, Chen, Fang, Jin, Li, Wang, Murphy, and Zhang, 2011, Asian Herpetol. Res., Ser. 2, 2: 67, disputed the evidence with additional sequence data and placed it in the synonymy of Rana hanluica as First Revisors.
