Atelopus epikeisthos Lötters, Schulte, and Duellman, 2005 "2004", Rev. Esp. Herpetol., 18: 103. Holotype: KU 211684, by original designation. Type locality: "from the Cordillera Central, 7 km E Chachapoyas (ca. 06° 16′ S, 77° 41′ W; 2010 m above sea level), Departamento de Amazonas, Peru . . . . a small ravine along the road from Chachapoyas to Molinopampa".

Distribution
Known only from the type locality in the eastern part of the Cordillera Central in northern Peru (Departamento de Amazonas).
