Comment

Closely related to Pelophylax nigromaculatus (as Rana), according to the original publication. Synonymized with Pelophylax nigromaculatus; without discussion, by Fei, Ye, and Huang, 1990, Key to Chinese Amph.: XXX. This synonym apparently accepted by Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 305-352, and Dubois and Ohler, 1996 "1994", Zool. Polon., 39: 178-179 (who did not mention it), but not by Zhao and Adler, 1993, Herpetol. China: XXX, who retained an account for this species. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Rana tenggerensis) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 513.
