Atelopus arthuri Peters, 1973, Smithson. Contrib. Zool., 145: 10. Holotype: USNM 193470, by original designation. Type locality: "15 km N of Pallatanga, Chimborazo Province, Ecuador, at an altitude between 2800 and 2860 m".
English Names
Arthur's Stubfoot Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 39).
Distribution
Known only from three localities on the Pacific versant of the Andes of Ecuador in the provinces of Chimborazo and Bolívar, in humid montane forest and subparamo.

Cisneros-Heredia and Rueda-Almonacid, 2005, in Rueda-Almonacid et al. (eds.), Ranas Arlequines: 58, provided a brief account and regarded the species as extinct.
