Rana khalam Stuart, Orlov, and Chan-ard, 2005, Raffles Bull. Zool., 53: 125. Holotype: FMNH 258172, by original designation. Type locality: "on a leaf of an herbaceous plant along a small rocky stream in hilly wet evergreen forest in Xe Sap National Biodiversity Conservation Area, Kaleum District, Xe Kong Province, Laos, near 16° 04′ 10″ N 106° 58′ 45″ E between 1280-1500 m elevation".

Mountains of southern Laos and central Vietnam.
Comment
Most similar to Rana nasica, Rana archotaphus, Rana daorum, Rana trankieni, and Rana iriodes, according to the original publication. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 110, provided specific localities for Vietnam and briefly discussed the range.
