Rana laterimaculata Barbour and Noble, 1916, Proc. New England Zool. Club, 6: 21. Holotype: MCZ 3811, by original designation; holotype reported lost by Leong, Matsui, Yong, and Hamid, 2003, Curr. Herpetol., 22: 18, who designated MCZ 3885 as neotype. Type locality: "Sadong, Sarawak, Borneo", Malaysia. Neotype from original type locality.

Removed from the synonymy of Rana baramica by Leong, Matsui, Yong, and Hamid, 2003, Curr. Herpetol., 22: 17-27 (and who redescribed the species), where it had been placed by Inger, 1966, Fieldiana, Zool., 52: 160-162. Das, Jankowski, Makmor, and Haas, 2007, Mitt. Hamburg. Zool. Mus. Inst., 104: 158, provided a brief description.
