Micrixalus torrentis Smith, 1923, J. Nat. Hist. Soc. Siam, 6: 209. Holotype: BMNH (formerly M. Smith 6941), by original designation. Barbour and Loveridge, 1929, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 69: 305, record MCZ 9439-40 as syntypes (exchanged from BMNH). Type locality: "Five Finger mountain at 1000 metres altitude", Hainan I., China.

Southwestern and central Hainan Island, China, 80-780 m elevation.
