Comment

Account (as Staurois chunganensis) by Liu, 1950, Fieldiana, Zool. Mem., 2: 337-344, and Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 226-229. Description corrected and amplified by Pope, 1931, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 61: 546. See accounts by Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 174-176; Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China: 304; and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 230-232. Fei and Ye, 2001, Color Handbook Amph. Sichuan: 202, provided a brief account and illustration. Huang, 1990, Fauna Zhejiang, Amph. Rept.: 79-81, provided an account (as Staurois chunganensis) for Zhejiang populations. Zhang and Wen, 2000, Amph. Guangxi: 72, provided an account for Guangxi. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 86, provided the Vietnam record, although Bain, Stuart, and Orlov, 2006, Copeia, 2006: 55-56, suggested that these records should not be accepted until the specimens are compared with Amolops daorum and Amolops cucae. See also brief account by Zhao and Yang, 1997, Amph. Rept. Hengduan Mountains Region: 108-109. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 19, provided specific localities for Vietnam although Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 25: 59, suggested that these specimens (and the specimens from Yunnan) are referrable to Amolops mengyangensis. Yang, 2008, in Yang and Rao (ed.), Amph. Rept. Yunnan: 93-94, provided a brief account for Yunnan, China. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1514-1519, provided an account, figures, and range map, and included the species in their Amolops monticola group. In the Amolops monticola group of Stuart, Bain, Phimmachak, and Spence, 2010, Herpetologica, 66: 52-66, who also suggested that nominal Amolops chunganensis may be a species complex. See comment under Amolops mengyangensis. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 398-399, provided a brief account including photographs of specimens and habitat.
