Comment

Perret, 1995 "1994", Tropical Zool., 7: 268, cast doubt on the distinctiveness of this species from Aubria subsigillata. This taxon discussed and revalidated by Ohler, 1996, Alytes, 13: 141-166. See also comment under Aubria subsigillata. Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 284-285, provided an account and the Angola record. Jackson and Blackburn, 2007, Salamandra, 43: 149-164, provided a definitive record from the Rep. Congo.
