Pyxicephalus Delalandii Tschudi, 1838, Classif. Batr.: 46. Syntypes: MNHNP 721, 4521, and 4529 (5 specimens, according to Guibé, 1950 "1948", Cat. Types Amph. Mus. Natl. Hist. Nat.: 40) and RMNH 2260-2261, according to Gassó Miracle, van den Hoek Ostende, and Arntzen, 2007, Zootaxa, 1482: 53-54. Type locality: "Promontorium Bonae Spei", Rep. South Africa.

Bombinator Delalandii Tschudi, 1838, Classif. Batr.: 84. Name proposed as an objective synonym of Pyxicephalus delalandii to reference jar label names of syntypes in the RMNH and MNHNP. (Syntypes likely included types of Rana Delalandii Duméril and Bibron, 1841 = Rana angolensis—DRF.)

Distribution

Namaqualand, southward in sandy areas through the Western Cape, and eastwards along the coast to Cape St. Francis, Rep. South Africa; possibly into adjacent Namibia.
