Natalobatrachus bonebergi Hewitt and Methuen, 1912, Trans. R. Soc. S. Afr., 3: 107. Syntypes: (4 specimens) AMG and Marianhill Monastery Mus. Holotype reported to be in the PEM by Lambiris, 1988, Lammergeyer, 39: 108; since this is presumably the former AMG specimen, this constitutes a lectotype designation by implication. Type locality: "Mariannhill, Natal", Rep. South Africa.

Distribution
Forested canyons from Dwesa Nature Reserve in the Eastern Cape Province east to southern and central KwaZulu-Natal, Rep. South Africa, below 900 m elevation.
