Rana straeleni Inger, 1968, Explor. Parc Natl. Garamba, Miss. H. de Saeger, 52: 82. Holotype: MRAC 73067B3093 (formerly RFI 4351) according to Lang, 1990, Doc. Trav., Inst. R. Sci. Nat. Belg., 59: 13. Type locality: "on km north of Nagero, Parc National de la Garamba, Congo [= Dem. Rep. Congo]".

Northern Dem. Rep. Congo (Parc National de la Garamba) and Adamaoua Plateau, central Cameroon, in savanna.

Discussed by Perret, 1979, Bull. Soc. Neuchatel. Sci. Nat., 102: 18. The sonogram published by Amiet, 1974, Ann. Fac. Sci. Cameroun, 18: 112, as that of Ptychadena grandisonae is of this species according to J.-L. Perret in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 476.
