Kivu (Dem. Rep. Congo), Rwanda, Burundi, and southwestern Uganda; isolated record for Schaller's Spring, Serengeti, Tanzania.

Records from Angola and Mozambique refer to Ptychadena guibei (formerly Ptychadena chrysogaster guibei). Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 303-304, provided an account.
