Bufo turkanae Tandy and Feener, 1985, in Schuchmann (ed.), Proc. Internatl. Symp Afr. Vert.: 572. Holotype: AMNH 76460, by original designation. Type locality: "Loiengalani, Lake Turkana, Kenya (2° 47′ N, 36° 45′ E), altitude 381 m".
