Hymenochirus feae Boulenger, 1906 "1905", Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 3, 2: 158. Type(s): Not stated but according to museum records BMNH 1947.2.24.81-82 (formerly 1906.3.30.172-173) and MSNG 29941 (4 specimens) are syntypes; MSNG 29941A designated lectotype by Capocaccia, 1957, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 3, 69: 210. Type locality: "Fernand-Vaz, French Congo [= Gabon]".

Comment

Perret and Mertens, 1957, Bull. Inst. Franç. Afr. Noire, Ser. A, 19: 554, regarded Hymenochirus feae as a subspecies of Hymenochirus boettgeri, but Perret, 1966, Zool. Jahrb., Jena, Abt. Syst., 93: 305, recognized Hymenochirus feae as a distinct species.
