H. de Saeger, 52: 106-108, and Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 310-311. Loveridge's records for Mozambique and Malawi are based on Phrynobatrachus acridoides; see Poynton, 1964, Ann. Natal Mus., 17: 140-141. See Poynton and Broadley, 1985, Ann. Natal Mus., 27: 158. Records of Phrynobatrachus perpalmatus from Cameroon by Perret and Mertens, 1957, Rev. Suisse Zool., 64: 73-78, are based on specimens of Phrynobatrachus steindachneri according to J.-L. Perret (personal communication). Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 288-289, provided an account. Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 99-172, summarized the literature and reported the species as occurring in Burundi, but without a specific locality.
