Comment

Probably a synonym of Phrynobatrachus werneri according to A.G.C. Grandison in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 448. Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 99-172, summarized the literature. Zimkus, 2009, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 157: 796-813, discussed the possibility that this taxon is conspecific with Phrynobatrachus werneri. In species group C of Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883-900 (see comment under Phrynobatrachus werneri).
