Cardioglossa liberiensis Barbour and Loveridge, 1927, Proc. New England Zool. Club, 10: 16. Holotype: MCZ 12034, by original designation. Type locality: "Peahtah and vicinity of St. Paul's River, Liberia". Noted to be a Phrynobatrachus by Morère in J.-L. Amiet in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 17; synonymy with Phrynobatrachus fraterculus by Blackburn, 2005, Afr. J. Herpetol., 54: 171. Synonymy with Phrynobatrachus maculiventris by Rödel, Sandberger, Loua, Doumbia, and Hillers, 2009, Afr. J. Herpetol., 58: 15. Junior secondary homonym of Phrynobatrachus liberiensis Barbour and Loveridge, 1927.

English Names

Liberia Long-fingered Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 37 [as Cardioglossa liberiensis]).

Distribution

Known only from few localities in southeastern Guinea and adjacent western Ivory Coast near the Liberia border as well as one locality (Peahtah) in eastern Liberia, all in the Mont Nimba region.

Comment

Removed from the synonym of Phrynobatrachus fraterculus by Rödel, Sandberger, Loua, Doumbia, and Hillers, 2009, Afr. J. Herpetol., 58: 15-27, where it had been placed by Guibé and Lamotte, 1963, Mem. Inst. Franç. Afr. Noire, 66: 616. In species group B of Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883-900.
