Arthroleptides martiensseni Nieden, 1911 "1910", Sitzungsber. Ges. Naturforsch. Freunde Berlin, 1910: 445. Holotype: ZMB. Type locality: "Stationsleiter Martienssen (Tanga) gesammelt, ohne genauen Fundort, wahrscheinlich aber ebenfalls aus Usambara stammend", Usambara Mountains, Tanzania.

Petropedetes martiensseni — Scott, 2005, Cladistics, 21: 533. by implication.

Distribution

Rocky montane streams of East and West Usambaras (including the Magrotto Ridge) and Nguru mountains, eastern Tanzania, 600-1800 m elevation.

Comment

See Klemens, 1998, Herpetol. J., 8: 35-40. Channing, Moyer, and Howell, 2002, Alytes, 20: 13-27, noted that this species had, prior to 2002, been confused with Artholeptides yakusini. Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 260-263, provided an account (as Arthroleptides martiensseni). Pickersgill, 2007, Frog Search: 293-295, also provided an account.
