Pelobates varaldii Pasteur and Bons, 1959, Trav. Inst. Scient. Chérifien, Rabat, Ser. Zool., 17: 117. Holotype: MNHNP, although not recorded as there now (not on online collection database as of 22 Aug 2009—DRF). Type locality: "Merja Samora", Morocco.

English Names

Moroccan Spadefoot Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 96).

Distribution

Plains of northwestern Morocco from 50 km north of Larache in the north to the coastal marshes of Oualida, below 350 m elevation.
