Odontophrynus moratoi Jim and Caramaschi, 1980, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 40: 357. Holotype: MZUSP 50180, by original designation. Type locality: "Rubião Júnior, Botucatu, São Paulo, (aprox. 22° 53′ S e 48° 30′ W)", Brazil.

English Names

Botucatu Escuerzo (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 82).

Distribution

Central São Paulo (state), Brazil, in the municipalities of Avaré, Botucatu, Bauru, Itirapina, São Carlos, and Brotas, 800-900 m elevation.

Brasileiro, Martins, and Jim, 2008, Check List, 4: 382-385, provided provided new localities and discussed the species' range. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 403. Amaro, Pavan, and Rodrigues, 2009, Zootaxa, 2071: 61-68, employed molecular evidence to demonstrate that this species is a member of Proceratophrys. Carvalho, Kleinsorge, and Fusinatto, 2010, Check List, 6: 36-37, provided a new locality and discussed the range and conservation status. Rolim, Martinez, Almeida, Ubaid, Maffei, and Jim, 2010, Check List, 6: 576-578, provided a new record and discussed the range. Maffei, Ubaid, and Jim, 2011, Herpetol. Notes, 4: 95-96, .
