Type locality: "Riacho do Dandá (11° 26′ S, 40° 33′ W, ca. 800 m above sea level), Parque Estadual das Sete Passagens (an environmental State protected area), Municipality of Miguel Calmon, State of Bahia", Brazil.

Most similar to Proceratophrys schirchi according to the original publication. Teixeira, Amaro, Recoder, Vechio, and Rodrigues, 2012, Zootaxa, 3551: 25-42, provided a range map and noted the southern record near Palmeiras, Bahia, Brazil.
