Odontophrynus carvalhoi Savage and Cei, 1965, Herpetologica, 21: 187. Holotype: MNRJ 313, by original designation. Type locality: "Brazil: Estado de Pernambuco: Poção (1,035 m)".

English Names

Carvalho's Escuerzo (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 82).

Distribution

Elevations above 500 m elevation between the Serra do Espinaco range on the west and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, from the state of Paraiba in north south to the Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais, in the south, all in Brazil.

Comment

Lisboa, Silva, and Haddad, 2010, Check List, 6: 493-494, extended the range to Alagoas, Brazil, and provided a range map. Caramaschi and Napoli, 2012, Zootaxa, 3155: 7-12, placed this species in their Odontophrynus cultripes group, provided an account and redelimited the species.
