Known only from Humbarli village and Amboli in Maharashtra, India.
In the "northern clade", Nyctibatrachus humayani group, of Van Bocxlaer, Biju, Willaert, Giri, Shouche, and Bossuyt, 2012, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 62: 839-847. These authors also noted an unnamed but closely related species from Sakleshpur, Karnataka, India.
