Uperoleia marmorata Gray, 1841, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 1, 7: 90. Holotype: Not stated; BMNH 41.2.215 give as "Type" by Parker, 1940, Novit. Zool., 42: 70, but given as (renumbered) BMNH 1947.2.19.88 (formerly 1836.12.3.130) by M.J. Tyler in Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 407. Type locality: "Western Australia"; according to Tyler, Davies, and Martin, 1981, Aust. J. Zool., Suppl. Ser., 29 (79): 10, the actual type locality is likely south of the Prince Regent River within 35 km of the coast, Western Australia.

Distribution
Known only from the type locality in Western Australia which is believed to be near the mouth of the Prince Regent River.
Comment
Prior to the revision of Tyler, Davies, and Martin, 1981, Aust. J. Zool., Suppl. Ser., 29 (79): 10, Uperoleia marmorata was considered widespread in eastern New South Wales; now it is known only from the holotype. See account by Tyler and Doughty, 2009, Field Guide Frogs W.
