Mixophyes balbus Straughan, 1968, Proc. Linn. Soc. New South Wales, 93: 55. Holotype: AMS R25922, by original designation. Type locality: "Point Lookout, New England National Park, N. S. W. [New South Wales, Australia], between 4,250 and 4,750 feet altitude".

Distribution
East of the Great Dividing Range from the Cann River catchments in far East Gippsland, Victoria, to tributaries of the Timbarra River near Drake, New South Wales, Australia, 20-1440 m elevation.
