Subgenus Microhyla, Microhyla achatina group. Chanda, 2002, Handb. Indian Amph.: 39, provided a brief account. Dutta, 1997, Amph. India Sri Lanka: 59, suggested that the species closely resembles Microhyla achatina, Microhyla heymonsi, Microhyla palmipes, and Microhyla superciliaris.
