Kaloula rugifera Stejneger, 1924, Occas. Pap. Boston Soc. Nat. Hist., 5: 119. Holotype: USNM 65520, by original designation. Type locality: "Kiating [= Leshan Shi], Province of Szechwan [= Sichuan], China".

English Names

Szechwan Narrowmouth Toad (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 90).

Sichuan Digging Frog (Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 302).

Distribution

Chengdu Plain and mountains to the west, Sichuan and extreme southern Gansu,China.

China: 351; and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 302-303. Fei and Ye, 2001, Color Handbook Amph. Sichuan: 225, provided a brief account and illustration. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 940-945, provided an account and spot map for China and assigned this species to their Kaloula verrucosa group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 495, provided a brief account for China including photographs of specimens and habitat.
