Calophrynus punctatus Peters, 1871, Monatsber. Preuss. Akad. Wiss. Berlin, 1871: 579. Holotype: MSNG 29130, according to Capocaccia, 1957, Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova, Ser. 3, 69: 219. Type locality: "Sarawak", Malaysia (Borneo).

Kalophrynus punctatus — Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 101.

English Names

Dotted Grainy Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 90).

Distribution

Two very isolated areas of range: islands of Sipura, Siberut, Tana Masa, and Pini in the Mentawai islands off the west coast of Sumatra (Indonesia); extreme western Sarawak (Malaysia) and adjacent northwestern Kalimantan (Indonesia) in western Borneo, above 1000 m elevation.

Comment

Similar animals were reported by Dring, McCarthy, and Whitten, 1990, Indo-Malayan Zool., 6: 119-132, from Siberut and Sipona Island.
