Chiasmocleis avilapiresae Peloso and Sturaro, 2008, Zootaxa, 1947: 40. Holotype: MPEG 23299, by original designation. Type locality: "Estação Científica do Programa Pró-Biodiversidade da Amazônia (PPBio), Floresta Nacional Caxiuanã, municipality of Portel, state of Pará, Brazil ( 1° 59′ S, 51° 39′ W".

Known from south of the Amazon river, but within its drainage from central Amazonas and eastern Rondonia, eastern Acre, northwestern Mato Grosso, to south-central Para to near the mouth of the Amazon; likely to be found in adjacent extreme northern Bolivia.
Sampaio, Silva, and Peloso, 2010, Check List, 6: 655-656, provided a range extension to the state of Acre, western Brazil, and provided a range map of known localities. Rodrigues, Noronha, Lima, and Rosa, 2011, Check List, 7: 846-848, provided a range extension and a spot map.
