Found in remnants of the Atlantic rainforest in Alagoas, Paraíba, and Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil.
Most closely related to Chiasmocleis atlantica, Chiasmocleis carvalhoi, and Chiasmocleis schubarti according to the original publication. Santos and Amorim, 2010, Herpetol. Rev., 41: 103, provided a record for Pernambuco, Brazil, and discussed the range.
