Phrynocara tuberatum Peters, 1883, Sitzungsber. Preuss. Akad. Wiss. Berlin, 1883: 166. Syntypes: Originally 5 specimens, ZMB 10441 (2 specimens) and 10442 (2 specimens); ZMB 10442 and 50103 (formerly part of 10442) reported by Bauer, Günther, and Robeck, 1996, Mitt. Zool. Mus. Berlin, 72: 266, who noted that ZMB 10441 could not be located, nor could the fifth specimen. Type locality: "aus dem Innern von Madagascar"

Mantipus Angeli Guibé, 1947, Mem. Inst. Sci. Madagascar, Ser. A, 1: 78. Holotype: MNHNP 1891.406 by original designation. Type locality: "Madagascar (sans localité précisée)". Synonymy by Guibé, 1952, Mem. Inst. Sci. Madagascar, Ser. A, 7: 113.
