Plethodontohyla angulifera Werner, 1903, Zool. Anz., 26: 251. Holotype: IRSNB 4812; Noble and Parker, 1926, Am. Mus. Novit., 232: 10, and Lang, 1990, Doc. Trav., Inst. R. Sci. Nat. Belg., 59: 10, regarded the holotype as IRSNB 1014 [366]). Type locality: Not stated. * Mantipus anguliferus— Noble and Parker, 1926, Am. Mus. Novit., 232: 10. * Plethodontohyla angulifera— Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 70. * Plethodontohyla angulifer— Duellman, 1993, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 21: 196. Unjustified treating of species name as a noun in apposition. ENGLISH NAME(S): Werner's Digging Frog ( Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 92). DISTRIBUTION: Unknown, presumably Madagascar. COMMENT: Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 102, doubted the validity of this species as did Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 70. The incorrectly formed combination, Mantipus anguliferus has had some use.
