Most closely related to Anodonthyla boulengeri and Anodonthyla moramora according to the original publication. Vences, Glaw, Köhler, and Wollenberg, 2010, Contrib. Zool., Amsterdam, 79: 32, noted no reliable records of this species from Nosy Mangabe.
