Asterophrys similis Zweifel, 1956, Am. Mus. Novit., 1766: 5. Holotype: AMNH 43722, by original designation. Type locality: "9 kilometers northeast of Lake Habbema, 2800 meters, Netherlands New Guinea [Papua (New Guinea), Indonesia]".
