Xenorhina gigantea Van Kampen, 1915, Nova Guinea, 13: 40. Syntypes: ZMA 5702-03; ZMA 5702 designated lectotype by Daan and Hillenius, 1966, Beaufortia, 13: 126. Type locality: "Bijenkorfbiwak" near the Lorentz River, 1700 m elev., Snow Mountains, Papua (New Guinea), Indonesia.

Distribution
Known only from the type locality and Eipomek, approximately 140 km east of the type locality, Papua, Indonesia (New Guinea).
Comment
Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 260, provided a brief account (as Xenobatrachus giganteus).
