Comment

The sister taxon of Asterophrys according to the original publication. Günther, Stelbrink, and von Rintelen, 2010, Zoosyst. Evol., Berlin, 86: 245-256, provided molecular relationships, suggesting that Metamagnusia is the sister taxon of Asterophrys. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, confirmed this result but because they adopted an antiquated taxonomy this is difficult to appreciate.

Contained taxa

  • Metamagnusia marani Günther, 2009
  • Metamagnusia slateri (Loveridge, 1955)
