Syntypes: BMNH (5 specimens), by original designation; BMNH 1947.2.20.58-62 (formerly 55.2.12.10, 56.7.9.4, 58.10.15.9, 58.11.25.168) according to Manamendra-Arachchi and Pethiyagoda, 1998, J. South Asian Nat. Hist., 3: 223, who reidentified 1947.2.20.62 reidentified as Adenomus kandianus and designated BMNH 1947.2.20.60 as lectotype of Bufo kelaartii. Type locality: "Ceylon" (= Sri Lanka).
